Shannon Dievendorf

Studio Owner

ERYT 500 | Usui Reiki Master | Breathwork Facilitator | Trauma-Informed + Recovery-Aware Guide

Hi, I’m Shannon, founder of Rebel Soul Yoga and a trauma-informed yoga teacher, Reiki Master, and Breathwork facilitator with a heart for supporting individuals on the path of healing, recovery, and self-discovery.

My teaching is centered on nervous system regulation, embodied awareness, and creating a safe space where students can reconnect to their bodies in their own time and in their own way. Whether through mindful movement, restorative stillness, or breath-led practices, everything I share is rooted in choice, consent, and compassion.

In addition to yoga, I’m a certified Usui Reiki Master and Breathwork Facilitator. These tools have become powerful complements to my work—especially with those navigating trauma, grief, addiction recovery, and emotional healing. Breathwork and energy healing can offer deep release and reconnection, supporting the body and mind in processing what words often cannot.

As someone who understands the importance of safe and supportive environments, Rebel Soul Yoga was created to be just that—a welcoming, heart centered space where people can show up exactly as they are.

You don’t need to be flexible, experienced, or “put together” to practice. Just come as you are—one breath, one step at a time.

Our Teachers

Teacher, Meredith Wray

Mert Wray first found yoga in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1994 to help heal a medical condition and fell in love with all of its benefits. Becoming certified to teach in 2010 at Asheville Yoga Center under Stephanie Keach, Joe Taft and Shala Worsley opened Mert’s world of yoga up even more. Over the past 7 years she has been dedicated to her practice and continuing education especially in the areas of the Chakras and Ayurveda. Since moving to Oak Island in 2013 her yoga world and teaching has evolved even more in this loving community. Mert focuses on teaching how to create space in the mind and body- with the intention that “movement heals”. “Yoga is for everyone – when someone comes out of my class I want them to be empowered by what they can do. We use the poses to get into our bodies moreso than using our bodies to get into the poses. “ Mert’s classes are focused, loving, and playful at times.

Teacher, Jeanette Immel

Jeanette Immel began her yoga journey 20 years ago in Charleston when a friend took her to a class. She is forever grateful as she had never been interested in going to “sit and breathe” (her perception of yoga at time)
The class was life changing! For her, Yoga is so much more than the physical practice-the Mind, Body, and Soul connection! So many lessons we learn on our mats carry over and help us navigate through life with more love and ease.

Her yoga teachers, students and the yoga community have impacted her life on so many levels..upon moving to Oak Island in 2021, she shared with a teacher..she would love to teach..one day and give back..with her lovingly push..she completed a RYT-200 training at Yoga Salt in Wilmington.

She is thankful to share this practice with all who show up on the mat and share their time and energy!
