Owner, Shannon Dievendorf

Shannon started her yoga journey in 2013. She first came to yoga for stress reduction and emotional regulation and quickly realized there were a host of other benefits she gained from her practice. Physical to spiritual benefits and everything in between. Shannon completed her 200 Hour Yoga Training from Yoga for the Planet in 2016. Shannon believes that yoga is for every BODY. Yoga heals.

Teacher, Meredith Wray

Mert Wray first found yoga in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1994 to help heal a medical condition and fell in love with all of its benefits. Becoming certified to teach in 2010 at Asheville Yoga Center under Stephanie Keach, Joe Taft and Shala Worsley opened Mert’s world of yoga up even more. Over the past 7 years she has been dedicated to her practice and continuing education especially in the areas of the Chakras and Ayurveda. Since moving to Oak Island in 2013 her yoga world and teaching has evolved even more in this loving community. Mert focuses on teaching how to create space in the mind and body- with the intention that “movement heals”. “Yoga is for everyone – when someone comes out of my class I want them to be empowered by what they can do. We use the poses to get into our bodies moreso than using our bodies to get into the poses. “ Mert’s classes are focused, loving, and playful at times.

Teacher, David Shivette

David’s first yoga class was at an ashram in SF when he was 18. He received his Yoga teacher certification from Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health 2007. He is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher. David taught yoga at Danville Yoga & Meditation Center in Danville, Va. in 2007-2008. He also taught Yoga & Meditation at Danville Community College from 2007-2016. Since moving to Oak Island he has been teaching Beach Yoga classes at Caswell Beach, NC. David is inspired by Seane Corn.

David believes that “Being present in the moment is the only thing that matters.”

Teacher, Brynn Waite

Brynn found yoga 17 years ago on the Outer Banks when she and her employee decided to hire a wonderful yoga teacher to come to their office twice a week.  She was fortunate enough to enjoy practicing and learning with several amazing teachers over the years, and eventually started practicing at Outer Banks Yoga.  She went to yoga classes everywhere she traveled — from Berkeley to Paris to Costa Rica, and she attended numerous workshops, but she dreamt of someday diving into Teacher Training.  Moving to Oak Island put her in the right place at the right time to take advantage of the opportunity to study with Claire Liddle and Nancy Smith.  She is now a certified yoga instructor and her life has been enriched beyond measure.  Namaste.

Teacher, MB Errington

MB’s primary goal as an instructor is to encourage people to develop and maintain healthy lifestyle habits that will promote their physical and psychological well-being. She thinks yoga is a perfect tool to build strength, flexibility and balance for both body and spirit.

MB has been blessed to work at many wonderful places, and with many fantastic people. “It’s humbling to know that yoga has allowed me to help others find their path and peace, even as I’ve received so much joy through teaching and practicing.” She’s looking forward to her next chapter on Oak Island!

Teacher, Tammy Serafin

Tammy Serafin has been practicing yoga for 16 years. She is originally from MD, where she received her RYT 200 and taught chair, beginner, intermediate, and children’s yoga classes. Tammy’s teaching style is gentle, and offers modifications and alternatives to better personalize your practice.

Teacher, Kelly Muller

Kelly is a believer in the benefits of movement, loving to help others stay active and strong. She finds it fascinating how yoga can connect breathe with body movements, in turn creating amazing healing powers for the body, mind and spirit. Formerly a school counselor, as well as a dance instructor, yoga is the perfect merger of her passions; anatomy, kinesiology and psychology. She loves incorporating the ideas of mindfulness, creating space, listening and finding balance into her classes, so all of her students can leave feeling both grounded and energized at the same time! Kelly is an E-RYT with over 2,000 teaching hours, RCYT and teacher trainer. She is excited to currently be working toward her 500 hour Yoga Therapy Certification through Yoga Medicine, with an emphasis on Myofascial Release, Restorative Yoga and the Nervous System. She has been teaching group fitness classes for over 20 years and pours all of her love into her Yoga, Barre and Dance classes. Kelly recently moved to the beautiful Oak Island in 2021 with her husband and 3 kids (and dog and cat 🙂
